In history, teacher said that we must accept this injustice because the malays let us to live here as one of their citizens, if it wasn't of their tolerance, we wouldn't be here - during the time before we independence, they keep objects of we existence on this country until they achieve an agreement, where they are the more superior ones.
Shit……….Brainwash, nowadays even the text books about our country history can't be trusted, they intended to brainwash the younger generation so that they might thought that it was the malays who are the ones who made Malaysia like this today!
But what can we do since such issue is sensitive in our country, talking against it will cost we severely……….And they say, Malaysia is a democratic world.
Truth hurts but truth really prevails……….this Malaysia country sucks!
This country would be a great country if there is no division of races. With its richness of natural resources, Malaysia should be one among the most developed nation in Asia.
Bitter to say, all those money lost to corrupt politicians and cronies, and unprofitable projects.
This is what saddens me as Malaysian.
However, I do believe the brain drain is inevitable. I believe it is happening. As a student in long-ago school, I see it every year. Each and every year after the holidays, there are a few less people in class. Why? Their parents emigrated down under West.
I left the country in the 90s because of the injustices in Malaysia perpetrated by Umno. I made my fortune and no returned home but I thought Mahathir had somehow managed to turn the mindset of Umno around into focusing on global competition, instead of petty race-based competition.
Now I am certain that those in power want the affirmative action policies to continue, not because these policies benefit the general malay population, but because these policies give Umno the right to continue to plunder the country.
Legalised theft is what they are after, and if anyone dares speak out, they just tell you to leave the country so that they can continue their plunder.
It is sad, but my children don't have to live through this injustice. They can go anywhere they want in the world, and I encourage them.
There are many people who made big names as Malaysians only when they are treated better in other countries, not because they are Malaysians but because they are treated as one of their own.
That is explain why they choose not to come back. Treatment was so good that they offered their family to emigrate over there.
Since Umno is playing the race cards openly, the coming future for non-malays is suffering through endurance. How many more years should we Malaysians suffer? It is not only the non-malays but also the poor malays struggling for survival in isolated villages.
Anyway, these people voted with their feet and wrote about their experience. They wanted to tell you about this country and how its government discriminated its minority people.
I can feel they love this country too but this country or rather this government did not love them. I can also feel their sadness and how things are turning for their malay brothers and sisters who are getting weaker and weaker in this globalised world, and all this is Umno's fault.
They realised if this is not stop immediately, this country will eventually go down the drain like those fourth world banana republics.
Their ancestors have helped this country to fight for independence and even fought off Japanese invaders but our government has never been grateful and instead discriminated against them to the hilt.
They also saw that they have become second-class citizens in their country of birth, and were very disappointed when Indonesia labours can become first class citizens whereas foreign spouses of non-malays took years just to get a PR. Even terrorists like Hambali and Abu Bakar can become PR holders easily. Something is definitely wrong with this country.
Here maybe you are malay and oblivious to others who are suffering and as a Muslim yourself, is this injustice reconcilable to the tenets of Islam?
Tony Gunawan also voted with his feet and went on to become USA first world badminton doubles champion. Instead of helping his original country to badminton glory, he helped another country to become a potent rival.
The same could be said of our citizens who voted with their feet. Many went to Singapore and worked for companies that became our competitors. If our country and government has been kind to some of its citizens, this additional competition wouldn't have been created. I hope the present government will realise its folly and there is no substitute to real meritocracy.
The non-malays don't want everything but only fairness and social justice, a very tenet of your malays great religion. If you can't even subscribe to the tenets of your own religion, I am afraid you may be branded a hypocrite and a very racist one at that.
It is not true that there will be no policy that can keep every race happy.
Only the person who thinks that he should be treated better than others would object to a policy that is fair to all.
That feeling of 'entitlement' is created by politicians who have found a convenient way to retain power in parliamentary democracy.
As a grass root, I hope that all Malaysians will live in harmony and work towards a better tomorrow, a better environment for the children.
Help each other with basic compassion of a human being.
When you see a blind woman trying to cross a busy road, you jump forward to guide her. You are not helping her because of her skin color or her religion. You help simply out of compassion of a human being.
Extend that spirit to our fellow countrymen. Give all those lagging behind with a helping hand, you won't miss a malay who needs help, neither will you miss a non-malay who needs help.
Learning ones mother tongue is a human right, no dispute. Teaching thing in Bahasa Malaysia has never been made a racist agenda by the non-malays.
On the other hand, the Umno flyers (Utusan, Berita Harian, etc) are the culprits. What is racist agenda?
Closing down schools that teach mother tongues without letting chance for expansion, rebuilding, relocation (all using private funds on private donated land), is racist agenda.
Up and coming Umno politicians (especially Umno Youth) often cash on racial issues. In fact, it has evolved into some kind of peer pressure amongst them. Today one wave the keris, tomorrow another must bring on the parang. If you take out a butter spreader, you are not a defender of the noble race.
If there were no non-malays in Malaysia, these keris and parang flaunters will become political bankrupts. What will happen then? There will be more episodes of Mahathir and Rafidah APs skirmish coming up.
And the poor malay nelayan still remain as poor malay nelayan in kampung (where is this place? who cares?).
Now if you followed speech about a new agenda to help bumis. So this is the way to create towering malays - just give them more handouts.
All talk was about helping, read enriching the malays. No one had the balls to talk about the Malaysian agenda. If this is what our future leaders spew, then I shed tears for my beloved country.
Much of so-called leakages of bumis allocation has not gone to other bumis but merely lost. Look at the ringgit depreciation, the loss of Proton, the debt of Perwaja, the bank write offs etc, and you get an idea where they have gone. The non-bumis benefit is marginal compared to the larger loses.
Just look at how many of the Menteri Besar and Chief Ministers reap profit from their position for personal gain, compared to few did not do it. They must be using the same pretext of some noble cause like NEP. But at the end the one benefiting is their closet cronies.
What left to Malaysians is the exorbitant car prices, high toll rate, no viable alternative public transport in cities, ever increasing water tariff, etc. Who is suffering at the end? Isn't it the "rakyat" at large and bumis forming the largest portion?
Have they not considered why previous implementations failed? In fact one needs not look far to find the answers - CORRUPPTION and ABUSE of POWER leading to cronyism and nepotism.
A simple solution is to implement an independent judiciary, answerable to parliament and freedom of the press as a starter.
Instead, Umno is asking for more privileges. Who are the main beneficiaries? So long as Malaysia's resources are plentiful, the non-bumis as scapegoats, the use of religious fear factor works on the rakyat, Umno will continue to call the shot.
Unfortunately there is not enough resources to satisfy the greed of Umno, the rakyat will remain poorer while the rich get richer.
For non-bumis, their ultimate aim is going abroad. Those left behind, well, the left over will join the poor including the bumis in Malaysia. Thus denying Malaysia the skill and wealth of the emigrating Malaysians.
Don't forget the call for more help, enriching the malays are actually for Umno, selected few and cronies! Not all the malays!
Do read them carefully and not counting it as every malay or Malaysian! Because of this nature of speech don't count it as "for all malays" and a case for you to bombast the innocent malays!
With all the multibillions and hundreds of millions of ringgit contracts going to the Umno bumis and crony companies, with all the Approved Permits (APs) going to the bumis (almost), with all the banking licences going to the bumis (almost), with all the big Government-Linked Companies (GLCs) coming under the control of the bumis, with all the government jobs (almost) going to the bumis, with all the petrol stations, transport licenses going to the bumis, etc.
Perhaps one reason that Umno Youth perceived that the bumis are not faring too well in the economic field is that the wealth that is now in their hands is not well shared out, and is concentrated in the hands of a small number of elite and crony bumis.
If you look at the number of government contracts going out to bumis is really discriminating against the non-malays.
Until now, I have not heard of one malay who has the courage to admit, that about 90% of the government projects and assistance that went to help the malays has gone to waste - huge squandering and wastage.
It is the reason why they are not being respected by other races.
That is their huge weakness. No matter how much monetary assistance you give to the malays, somehow or rather it doesn't improve their character and attitude towards work. It doesn't improve their knowledge on any business they are in.
Their business ethic is the lowest among Malaysians. Their wealth will never improve. Later down the road, they will be spending most of their money if not all on material gain rather than on building values, skills and knowledge.
That is why, 90% of the student scholarships, or 90% of the government projects goes to them, has gone to waste. They didn't take the opportunity to enhance their knowledge, skills but merely for material gain.
They have no confidence in themselves after so many years of independence. No confidence and faith in themselves to do their best and compete in the world. None at all.
Because most of the time, they spend their money and time on politics, and material gain. I would say malays place more importance on the form rather than on the substance.
Look at the amount of protocol they have to follow in their daily life. Most of it is not practical at all.
In short, we are stuck in medieval concept of balance of conflicting interest rather than those about moving forward to be become one.
So long as we are stuck in such medieval thinking, so long as we will be paralyzed by our fears and insecurities, and honestly lower-rate as a nation.
Look at America. What happened to the American Indians?
Because they refuse or reluctant to be progressive and continue to stay in huts and forest reserves.
Similar here, the malays are not locals. Parameswara came from Indonesia? India? Can't remember but he was definitely not local. Where malays came from? Indonesia? Arab? What happened to our Orang Asli? They are the original settlers here, they should be the true real bumiputras. Not the babiputras we have here.
So it is history repeating itself again. Best example is America and Australia. All the Orang Asli in these countries are almost non-existent. Take a walk out in the streets, you will find more whites than aborigines.
So, these malays here, what they are doing now is, they are claiming land and take it all to themselves. They realize malays are:
1- LAZY
2- INCOMPETENT
3- NO SENSE OF URGENCY
4- SPOILT BY THE GOVERNMENT
I called my newfound friend earlier who works in Singapore. Somehow, the conversation ended up on Malaysians holding top positions in Singapore.
Well, I have a good friend who is currently working with a top-notch investment company in Singapore. When my new friend found out, immediately said, "No wonder that Pak Lah person was mentioning about the brain drain in Malaysia!"
Well, I know a lot of doctors and scientists are working overseas. A number of my school alumni are actually working overseas and not in Malaysia. Some are doing well in Boston, London, to name a few. It is even funnier to hear stories of some of my school alumni to accidentally meet each other when they are overseas. Yes, my school is guilty for contributing to the brain drain……….
Closer to home, I wonder if Pak Lah knows about our own Malaysian companies that are also contributing to the brain drain. No name mentioned, but I know of one company, due to the change in business process has forced a number of the disgruntled staff to leave the company.
The worse thing, these staff left and joined the competitors that are not Malaysian owned. And even worse, some staff actually decided to leave Malaysia and work at greener pastures.
They could have stayed in Malaysia, but no company in Malaysia could afford to pay the expected salary due to the staff being former scholars and studied overseas during the economic crisis.
Sad really. Now wonder why Pak Lah has an uphill task.
Hoping for our Malaysia motherland to revert the numerous declines to do things right again is hoping against hope. Circumstances have changed a lot now. We are no longer in the 60s, 70s, or 80s.
Then, we had god given golden opportunities to speed ahead. At those times, China was a sleeping dragon and a closed nation. The nations of Indochina were embroiled in one war after another. Wages were gradually rising in Japan and Korea, and many multi-national companies were relocating. Thailand was not that stable because of frequent threats of coup.
Because of all these factors and our unique position then we benefited from numerous foreign investments.
We could have grown from strength to strength by capitalizing on our assets, our bilingual if not multi-lingual, our human resources and intelligent. Alas, our myopic ruling parties did not realize our strengths - three major races and cultures, four major languages.
We shot our own feet by being ultra-nationalistic and obsessed with Ketuanan Melayu. We destroyed our strengths.
Meanwhile, the dynamics of the region have changed. China is no longer a sleeping dragon. The nations of Indochina are experiencing peace and hungry for progress and developments. Thailand is progressing by leaps and bounds. They, especially China, are like giant vacuum cleaners sucking in huge international investments. Their citizens, who used to admire our citizens ability in speaking English, are now eagerly learning English.
Much as we complain (the trouble is we only complain here; nothing like this will ever get into the mainstream media) about the many faults our nation is facing, it is almost impossible to see changes and things getting better.
We don't have an open and critical press that can change the thoughts of our citizens, that can expose objectively the numerous wrong doings prevailing in our nation, or that can induce positive political changes in our nation. The wrong doings will continue to be propagated. The wealth of the nation will continue to be channeled to certain privileged individuals.
Wait until our population explodes exponentially to a number that the nation cannot longer sustain - when basic infrastructures fail and when food crisis or security become an issue. Wait until our oil run dry, or when a new product or technology replaces our golden crop, the palm oil.
Perhaps by then, people are no longer in their comfort zones anymore and are prepared to change through people power - a revolution not because of racial or religious issues, but because of the huge gap between the haves and the have-nots.
Racism is always the weapon.
Umno use Chinese as enemy to unite malays, just like unite Malaysians against Singaporeans. Hopefully, the younger generation malays learn the truth and not be blind by them.
I think all BN Chinese party is shit-head who are just Umno lap dog. Wagging tail as Umno speak. Pathetic.
Government only pays to built mosque, have they ever pay a cent to built temple or church! Malaysians do have freedom of religion but to what extent? I think we all know how "true" is that.
The racism will always stay because Umno is so one sided even though they say they treat all races equal.
The politicians want the public to keep feeling a bit jealous, hatred of each others. They lied to the public in believing the need of NEP by showing biased statistic. How many others actually benefit from it?
What their leader did actually does not benefit the malay community as a whole, only the rich and connected malays.
Public listed companies must have at least 30% hold by malays. Indeed in reality the percentage is higher, but why the malay community is still lagging? Who can be part of the 30%? The rich and connected malays? Yes!
The politicians are afraid that if the public united and "forced" BN (or should we say Umno) out of political field.
Yes, any politicians that continue to play the racist card - Beware! Your days are numbered!
If anything, the malay race's main downfall is their inability to compete without crutches. Say what you will against the Chinese and Indians, but unless the malays look upon ourselves in the mirror, we shall see who our "real" enemies are.
Best thing is Malaysia history being altered to say all hero in Malaysia are only malays. Pathetic! This will only further split all of us.
If they managed to unfortunately cause another race riot, do you think at the end of the day - life will be better for the malays? The answer is no - race riot or tension is like a civil war - it weaken the country and invite outside interference.
Malaysia to be developed status is a joke in year 2020. Developed status is not on economically but politically and socially.
I am glad, reading through the replies that there are some sane, rational malays, but I am also saddened and frightened and most of all, amazed by the sheer bigotry and shallowness of some of the people here.
Those who feel hurt and challenged should not just sit back and complain, stand up and do something about it.
We are fellow countrymen should stand up and achieve our visions together.
It is undeniable that malays are stupid, lazy and incapable. Why don't they just humbly admit the facts and repent and learn from other races especially Chinese?
What is the point to argue here and wasting time again?
From the first onwards we were merely telling the truths. It wasn't us who think that way but their own Pak Lah as well.
All malays should go and read the newspaper, even Pak Lah is ashamed of maintaining the NEP after 34 years of implementing it and these malay baboons are still asking for it.
Even Pak Lah wanted them to compete on a level playing field.
So what does all these tell the world? It sends a very clear message that it is malays themselves who are incapable and lazy and they don't even want to admit it and make a change!
That is the biggest shame of all.
Can't you see, it is all back to square one. Year in, year out, some talk for half an hour, some one, some two. Some sing, many belt out their most recent released 'pantun'.
After all. Malays are good at that. Suggestions after suggestions, some good, some impossible to realize.
But, do you see any of these materialised? Hardly. Why, why and why???
Because the malays can never change. Never! Why?
The leaders forgot or were it they simply didn't want to admit and address that the actual disease is the malays and the remedy itself is also, the malays. They can never change. What is it about the malays?
Firstly as you all know, they are a lazy species. Since the beginning of time they have been like that. Even the encyclopedia called them as lazy people. I think those British with their accent tried to call them 'malas', and if you put 'y' in, it becomes 'malays'.
Embracing Islam make them a worse lot. Now they have a license to kill anything that gets into their way.
Malays are ungrateful lot. In reality, they just can't live or open their minds for others. When Mahathir said that they are complacent, they put him in jail. When Mahathir encouraged them to learn English language, they got angry with him, saying it is a 'bahasa penjajah'.
When other races 'maju', they got angry with them too. That was why at the end of Mahathir his regime, he said this, "I have achieved greatness as a prime minister, but I only fail in one thing, changing the malays."
Well, nothing to be surprised about anyway since Mahathir is not really a malay, and I guess that was why the malays were angry with him.
Drug abuse, hate, incest, liberal extremism (culture of miniskirts and gay marriages), murder, racism, rape, religious fanaticism, parochialism, snatch theft, spoilt-bratty behavior, tribalism, wife abuse, child abuse, all that is associated with the malay race.
To them, malay is the biggest impediment towards building a truly Malaysian nation, and should be chucked into the dustbins of history.
A genetically flawed race cannot be fixed by politically. Nature will take its course and globalization will put them out to pasture.
What have we got now?
Brain drain, economic disparity getting wider, poor education system, racial segregation, widespread corruption, inefficiency and uncompetitive on the government departments and others.
Sad. Sad. Sad. The question asked by many of my fellow Chinese is this - Why can't you just tell the malay peoples to adopt Chinese culture which is superior?
From research, this peninsular was part of the Siamese empire way before these malays from Indonesia invaded it.
Still so thick skin, don't want to go back to Indonesia!
It is frightening to find out about such things that are happening in our Malaysia country. Maybe now we won't suffer, but our future generations will. All this discrimination does happen, slowly and silently, we are being blinded from the truth.
For non-malays, we are approx 1/3 of the population of Malaysia. Of course birth rate continue to lower, since most of non-malays emphasis education because survival is the fittest in this environment.
For Chinese and Indians, my advice is simple, hey this planet has many many countries, Malaysia is not a significant country. Do you guys know that you can apply for job in US, then get a social security with approval then zoom, you are in US.
In Europe, Malaysians can have three months without visa to visit EU, plenty of time to search around, please do home work first. I recall in Taiwan, if you are Chinese, ok you can get third rate citizenship and can vote in their presidential election, oops sorry, I don't think Indian can qualify here.
Of course for those poor less-educated relatives, suggestion - get one generation into university, whatever way - all you need is one person, he or she will do pull string in next 10 years down the road.
If intermarriage is allowed between races without having to be converted to Islam during independence in 1957, new Malaysians will emerge, dominating all sectors of Malaysia life.
Saya baca dalam perbincangan ini perkataan "racist" digunakan dengan begitu mudah sekali. Betul memang ada perasaan perkauman. Tetapi tidak semua persoalan disebabkan oleh prasangka perkauman.
